ABOUT BALFOUR&CO

I set up Balfour & Co Weaving School in the summer of 2020. I wanted to create a separate platform for my online courses, workshops and new range of weaving supplies, so that they weren’t jostling for space amongst my own artistic practice.

Since then, I’ve launched three new online rug weaving courses, hosted regular workshops in my East London studio, and shipped weaving supplies and rug yarn all around the world!

It’s sometimes challenging to balance the demands of this business and my weaving practice, but Balfour & Co gives me a unique opportunity to share my love of weaving with the world.

Workshops

I have been teaching in-person weaving workshops since 2016. In that time I’ve taught classes at the Barbican, London Design Fair and the V&A, but favourite place to teach is in my studio in East London. I now run Tapestry Weaving Workshops and Rug Weaving Workshops several times a year, in small classes with just 6 people in each one.

Online Weaving Courses

As well as in-person workshops, I have also created an online curriculum of weaving courses so my students can learn to weave anywhere in the world!

Beginning with the launch of Geometric Weaving in 2019 and continuing to Rug Weaving On A Mirrix Loom in 2022, I’ve worked to create accessible and in-depth resources to help you weave well-crafted and long-lasting tapestries and rugs.

Rug Yarn & Weaving Supplies

To help my students get the most out of my online courses and workshops, I also began selling weaving supplies in 2020. This includes a wide selection of rug yarn as well as an upright rug loom that I designed specifically for my courses.
