This is a two-day class held in my east London weaving studio. It takes place over the course of a full weekend, running from 10am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday, with a break for lunch.
Before the class I'll be in touch with each participant to discuss what they want to weave, and to help them plan and prepare for the class. They’ll receive a PDF download with full information about the class, what they’ll be learning, and design ideas. They can design their own rug from scratch, or use one of the customisable designs I've created especially for rug-weaving beginners.
In the class itself, students will weave their own 50cm x 70cm rug using high-quality rug wool from my own collection (rugs can be larger than this, but it depends how fast each person weaves!) Students will be working on a traditional upright rug loom, and they'll also get their own rug loom to take away home with them, along with weaving tools and a selection of rug wool.
They'll be learning the same processes that I use in my own work every day, and will also be able to peek behind the scenes at process of creating my handwoven rugs and wall-hangings. I'll be answering any questions about the process of rug weaving and its history.
After the class I'll send each student further information to help them keep weaving, including a list of stockists.
During the class I'll be serving tea, coffee and pastries. Lunch will be provided, and I'll be in touch in advance of the class to discuss dietary requirements.
Payment plans for this course are available, please email me at email@example.com if you would like to pay in instalments.
