What Is Double Weave?
Double weave is a technique that allows you to weave two layers of weaving at a time on one loom.
Traditionally, it has been used to make cloth of double thickness, with complex reversible patterns.
But it can also be used to make textiles that are twice as wide as the warp on your loom, pieces that are constructed from separate panels, joined together without the need for sewing.
In this series, I’ll show you how to use double weave to make rugs, cushion covers and curtains - and all on very simple loom, that you can make yourself.

What Loom Should I Use For Double Weave?
The loom I use throughout this entire series is a simple upright rug loom. Detailed instructions on how to make this loom are included in every class.
Instructions are also included for how to weave these projects on rigid heddle and floor looms.

What loom can I use for these classes?
The loom I am using in every class is a simple upright frame loom. Instructions for how to make this loom are included in each class.
The instructions can also be adapted to suit other upright looms, or to suit rigid heddle, table and floor looms. Each class includes a digital guide with advice for adapting the project to your loom.
What tools & materials will I need for these classes?
For each class you will need some basic weaving tools (a shuttle, bobbin, comb and scissors.) The yarn used in every class is hard-wearing rug wool. Visit my stockists and suppliers page for recommended suppliers in your country.

I’m new to weaving - are these classes suitable for beginners?
Absolutely! These classes are designed for beginners and experienced weavers alike.
However, I recommend starting with the Double Weave Rug class first, as this is the simplest project, before moving onto more complex classes.

I’m in a different timezone - can I still take these classes?
Of course! While I’m based in the UK, I have customers from all over the world, and these classes are designed with international students in mind. All the content is pre-recorded and there are no live or time-sensitive elements. You can work through the classes at your own pace, wherever you are in the world.
Are your classes available in other languages?Unfortunately, at this point in time my classes are available in English only.
I'm in the EU. How do I sign up for these classes?

I signed up for a class - how do I access the content?
When you sign up for a class you should receive an email from me directing you to create an account on my online course platform - or to log in if you already have an account.
Please check your junk mail if you don’t receive this email!
In the meantime, you can log in here using the email that you signed up for the class with, and create a new password by clicking “reset password”
Can I download the classes?
Each class comes with a downloadable PDF workbook, so you can have step-by-step instructions and notes to hand while weaving. However, the videos themselves cannot be downloaded.
My videos are hosted on a platform similar to Youtube - if your internet connection is not strong enough to watch Youtube, it will not be strong enough for this course. Please check this before you sign up!

When will The Double Weave Cushion and The Double Weave Curtain class be accessible?
Classes are spaced out one per month, to allow students time to work through them. The Double Weave Cushion Class will open on June 5th and The Double Weave Curtain Class will open on July 10th
When will The Double Weave Cushion and The Double Weave Curtain class be available to purchase separately?
Both of these classes will be available to purchase separately one month before their start date. I recommend signing up to the waiting list to be notified when they become available.
When will new double weave classes become available?
There are currently seven more Double Weave classes in the works! These will be released in stages throughout 2026 and 2027. I recommend signing up to the waiting list to be notified when new classes are announced.
